Tips For Setting Up Your New Surround Sounds Speakers

Blog

Are you planning to transform your home theater with surround sound speakers? If so, know that there are many mistakes that you can make when setting up the speakers. Follow these tips to ensure you're getting the best sound possible.

Speaker Placement From Side Walls

One thing many people do not consider is the placement of the left and right speakers from the sides of the rooms. While you may think the key is having the speakers an equal distance from the television that you are watching, you need to understand how sound is going to bounce off the walls on their way to where you are sitting. Not having the same speaker distance from the side walls can result in the sound feeling slightly delayed from the left and right speakers.

Side Wall Materials

You must also think about the type of material that surrounds the walls of your home theater room. If you have one wall that is made with drywall and another wall with windows, you are going to have a problem. The sound from one speaker is going to sound very different when it bounces off the glass, especially when compared to the sound that bounces off the drywall. Unfortunately, you don't have control over where the windows in your room are located.

The best thing you can do is use curtains that will cover these windows when you want to enjoy a true home theater experience. This will replace the reverberation that will happen when the sound bounces off the glass, which will improve the sound quality.

Speaker Height

A common mistake people make when setting up their in-wall speakers is not considering the height of the speakers. This is especially true when installing front left and right speakers that are mounted inside the wall. When attempting a self-install, someone may mistakenly place the speakers high so that they are out of the way, but the wall mounted nature of the speakers are going to have the sound point straight ahead along the ceiling. Instead, the speakers should be at the same level as your ears, since the sound coming from the speakers is directional.

If you want help with your in-wall surround sound speakers, work with a professional in your area that knows about audio equipment like this. It's the best way to ensure the job is done correctly and you have the best sound possible.

Using Audio Visual Equipment

I have never been someone who is naturally skilled with things like audio visual equipment, which is why I began focusing more and more on taking care of things the smart way. I began reading more out of things like user manuals and completely skipping various aspects of the troubleshooting process, and it really helped me to be more effective during things like presentations, when appearances matter a lot. After years of struggling with presentations, it has been amazing to see just how powerful a few changes made. This website is all about using equipment and knowing how to completely transform your next event.
